Research interests -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am interested in studying plant phenology, including leaf-out, leaf senescence, flowering and fruiting phenologies in both community and regional levels, and studying the impact of climate change on phenology. I am also interested in seed rain and seedling recruitment, the density dependent recruitment in community level. Part of my current research is based on Gutianshan (GTS) 24 ha plot in a subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest in China.
2017.06.15. Four co-author papers are published in Chinese journals.
2017.06.03. My first-author paper " Phylogenetic conservatism and trait correlates of spring phenological responses to climate change in northeast China" is accepted for publication in journal Ecology and Evolution.
2017.02.12. My paper is accepted for publication in journal Oecologia, titled "Intraspecific and phylogenetic density-dependent seedling recruitment in a subtropical evergreen forest".
On 14th Oct, 2015, my co-author paper is published in one of the best Ecology journals in China <Biodiversity Science>, titled "Influence of climate, phylogeny, and functional traits on flowering phenology in a subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest, East China"; the first author is my master student and I am the correspondence author.
From 4th-8th, Oct, 2015, I attended the Third International Phenology Conference in Turkey, and I had a poster.
On 9-13th, August 2015, I attended the 100th ESA meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, and I made a presentation titled "Intraspecific and phylogenetic density-dependent recruitment in a subtropical evergreen forest".
On 19th Feb, 2015, my first-author paper titled "Phylogenetic constraints and trait correlates of flowering phenology in the angiosperm flora of China" is formally accepted for publication on Global Ecology and Biogeography .
On 2015. 01.01, My co-author phenology paper titled "Substantial variation in leaf senescence times among 1360 species of temperate woody plants: Implications for phenology and ecosystem processes" is accepted for publication on Annals of Botany.
On 2014.12.2, I arrive at Yale university and start the one-year visiting scholar program. The supervisor is prof. Liza Comita.
On June 15th, my collaborative paper is accepted to publish on jounal New Phytologist , titled "Leaf out times of temperate woody plants are related to phylogeny, deciduousness, growth habit and wood anatomy".The author list: ZA Panchen, RB Primack, B Nordt, ER Ellwood, A Stevens, SS Renner, CG Willis, R Fahey, A Whittemore, Yanjun Du, CC Davis.
From 2-6 Jun,2014, I attended a workshop on "Macroecology" in Institute of Botany, CAS, Beijing, lecturers are Prof. Jens Svenning, and Brody Sandel from Denmark.
On 6th, Mar,2014, I am afforded a certificate as an excellent reviewer in 2013 for one of the two most influential ecological journals <Biodiversity Science>.
On 9th, Sep, my co-authored article titled“Citizen science: integrating scientific research, ecological conservation and public participation” is accepted for publication in one of the most influential Chinese ecology journal - Biodiversity Science. We set up the website for Citizen science (公众科学) in China: http://www.gongzhongkexue.org/
Recently, I made two presentations on the topic of flowering and fruiting phenology; one was on CTFS-SIGEO workshop in Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Virginia,USA (31th, Jul), and the other was on ‘Global Change and Biogeography’ workshop in Peking University (12th, Aug).
From 10th Aug. to 16th Aug,2013, I attended the Biogeography course in Peking University, and the lecturers include Prof. Carsten Rahbek, Nathan Sanders,Ammie Classen, Jingyun Fang(方精云), Jinsheng He(贺金生), Shilong Piao(朴世龙), Qinghua Guo(郭庆华), Zhiheng Wang (王志恒), Zehao Shen(沈泽昊).
From 17th Jul to 4th Aug, 2013, I attended the CTFS-CForBio DATA ANALYSIS workshop in Front Royal, Virginia, USA.
I translated a review "Leaf out Phenology in temperate forests" by Caroline Polgar and Richard Primack, which was published in 《Biodiversity Science》(2013, 1: 111–116).
From 27 to 31 Aug 2012, I attended the Bayesian Statistical modeling course in Beijing, which was taught by Dr. Marc Kery, who is the author of the book 《Introduction to WinBUGS for Ecologists》(Academic Press). Dr. Marc's lecture was pretty clear, logical, and heuristic, and I enjoyed it very much!
On Aug 14, my invited paper is online in Chinese Journal of Plant Ecology for Seed Ecology Special Issue.
From 16 Jul. to 3 Aug, 2012, I attended the Dimension of Biodiversity workshop organized by CTFS in the University of Washington, Seattle, US.
On Jan 13, 2012, my review " Research advances and prospects in forest community-level seed rain study" was accepted by the journal Biodiversity Science (Chinese)
From July 18-25, 2011, I attended the CTFS-CForbio workshop in Changbaishan, and met many old friends, like Stuart Davies, Joe Wright, Helene Muller-Landau, Nathan Swenson, Liza Comita, Simon, Rhett Harrison, etc and met Rick Condit for the first time.
